A Dot, Where It All Begins

It began on paper.
With lines drawn slowly. With pauses in between.
With the habit of observing before creating.
Art, for me, was never something separate. It existed naturally; in Indian homes, in architecture, in textiles, in the everyday. While working on my final year project on Indian art history, this became impossible to ignore. Art in India was not created to be framed and distanced. It was meant to be lived with. Touched. Used. Passed through generations.
That thought stayed with me.
A dot by jui grew from this thought.
Every piece here begins by hand. Drawn first, without thinking of the final form. Lines are explored, erased, and redrawn. Forms are kept minimal. Colours are chosen with restraint. Not to decorate, but to allow the art to breathe and speak quietly.

The dot itself carries meaning.
A beginning. A pause. A moment of balance.
In Indian philosophy, the bindu represents origin; the point from which everything emerges. For me, the dot became a reminder that even the smallest mark can hold intention, and that simplicity often carries the most depth.
From paper, the art moves into form.
Onto fabric. Onto objects. Onto everyday pieces.
Sarees that feel light and familiar.
Clothing that carries hand-drawn stories.
Objects that sit gently within daily life.
These are not pieces meant to be preserved or saved for occasions. They are meant to be worn, used, and lived with. To soften over time. To age naturally. To become part of routines rather than disrupting them.
At its core, a dot by jui is about bringing art back into everyday living. Translating Indian aesthetics into contemporary forms without noise or nostalgia. Creating pieces that feel rooted, calm, and timeless.
This is a slow journey. One guided by process, intention, and thought. Not trends. Not urgency.
The dot continues to grow across surfaces, materials, and stories, while remaining true to where it began.
